It appears that is the going rate for those 6 or so features.įrom my perspective, I paid $225 and the total cost of the X5 was a cool 70 or so. The price is a reflection of supply and demand or what average buyers are willing to pay for a specific service. If you're savvy enough to hack the system and figure all this out then obviously that is great too.

$225 a pop feels a bit steep, but maybe licensing and software is several thousand?īMW's latest software/hardware called ISTA will run you a cool 30K or so. That being said the price should reflect the licensing/hardware costs related to the coding. Now if something is being built or a 3rd party program which has to be paid for is needed, then that is a different story. I really don't want to give someone remote access to my laptop and I certainly don't want my dash taken apart which elevates the chance of introducing rattles or other problems in the future. Well "searches" of this site, other BMW sites and google is yielding nothing with regards to any hidden BMW menus to unlock this without having to use hardware and bring it to someone for coding.
